A Guyra Information Hub has been established at the Guyra showgrounds hall to assist residents during the bushfire emergency.
Council will keep a number of measures in place tomorrow in response to the ongoing bushfire emergency.
A Guyra Information Hub to assist residents has been operating today at the Guyra showgrounds hall, which has been established as a Bushfire Neighbourhood Safer Place. All residents attending the hub today have been found overnight accommodation or have returned to their homes. Contact phone numbers for assistance overnight will be displayed at the Guyra hub building. If fire conditions do not ease overnight the Guyra information hub will reopen again tomorrow.
The NSW Rural Fire Service’s advice for today remains current:
“If your plan is to leave, or you and your property are not prepared, your safest option is to leave before 8am.”
A meeting place operating in Armidale at Kent House, on Faulkner Street, as an option for residents who self-relocate from Guyra will close overnight and only reopen tomorrow if there is demand.
Some Council services will remain unavailable tomorrow. Customer services will continue to be available at the front counters of the Guyra and Armidale offices and enquiries can be directed to 1300 136833.
All outdoor crews have been redeployed to assist with fire control measures.
The Guyra library remains open and free entry to the Guyra pool will be extended to tomorrow.
Guyra Preschool & Long Day Care Centre remains closed until further notice.
For alerts and further updates, residents are strongly urged to monitor the NSW Rural Fire Service website, the Fires Near Me app and listen to local ABC radio.
