Over-the-counter customer service operating hours at Council’s Spence Street and Earlville offices, will be slightly changed from Monday 3 February reflecting residents’ growing preference to deal with Council online.
A review of Council’s customer service has shown a significant decrease in in-person enquiries over the past 3 years, with residents instead using Council’s website, email and the My Cairns app.
From February 3, Council’s Spence Street customer service counter will be open from 8.30am to 4.30pm, while the Earlville customer service desk will be open from 9am to noon
From May 2020, Council’s call centre hours will also be changed to 8.30am to 4.45pm. Council will continue to offer an after-hours phone service for reporting urgent matters such as dog attacks and burst water or sewer mains.
The change in over-the-counter and phone service operating hours will provide more time for customer service officers to address communication provided via digital channels.
