Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis has today launched City of Darwin’s 2019 Christmas in Darwin calendar of events.
The Calendar details nearly 50 free events being hosted by City of Darwin throughout December; helping people from across the city celebrate the festive season.
Events are being held at various City of Darwin locations including in the Mall, Libraries and Parks, Nightcliff and Casuarina Pools and the Fun Bus.
Lord Mayor Vatskalis said he was delighted with the range and variety of events on offer this year.
“This is the second year City of Darwin has hosted a series of Christmas events across the municipality and following the success of all the events we held in 2018 we have added even more events this year.
“There really is something on offer for everyone – starting with the Christmas tree lighting and boutique markets on 29 November, Pool Party and Movies, Drag Queen Christmas Bedtime Stories, Merry Lego Christmas, Santa’s Tech Zone, Family Fun Fair, Santa’s Fun on Wheels, Carols by Candlelight and for the first time Carols by the Sea.”
“And of course there is the ever-popular Santa’s Village in the Mall, where children can meet Santa and enjoy Christmas craft activities. Santa’s Village will be open every day except Sundays from 1 December through to 24 December 9.30-11am and 11.30-1pm.”
“Don’t forget all these activities are free,” Lord Mayor Vatskalis concluded.
City of Darwin is also offering free on-street parking from 9 December to 5 January, with normal time restrictions will apply.
The Christmas in Darwin calendar of events is available at all City of Darwin venues - Libraries, Pools, the Civic Centre and Fun Bus. The calendar can also be downloaded from City of Darwin’s website - darwin.nt.gov.au/christmas2019
