Time running out to buy your Showground paver

Part of the transformation of Fairfield Showground will include a fun new playground for children of all abilities at Deerbush Park, which will include a walking path around the park. This walking path will include pavers that can be engraved family or business names as a memento for our residents who have called Fairfield City ‘home’.

Orders for the pavers close on 20 December 2019.

Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said Council has been inundated with orders and he was excited by the response.

“Residents and businesses have embraced the opportunity to be a part of our wonderful new showground,” Mayor Carbone said.

“Council is working hard to open up Fairfield Showground for the whole community to enjoy festivals, sporting events, as well as to provide playgrounds and walking tracks for active, healthy lifestyles, right in the geographical heart of our City.

“I’m excited that our local community is embracing our vision for Fairfield Showground and are eager to be a part of it.”

Mayor Carbone said the path, as well as the Kugel Ball fountain and multi-directional flagpole that will be installed at the entrance the Showground, will celebrate Fairfield City’s history as a home for people from right across the world.

“Ever since John Williams and his wife took up a land grant in 1792 and became the area’s first European settlers, people have been coming here from all over the globe. Their names and histories form a crucial part of our City’s story,” Mayor Carbone said.

“This path will serve as an important record of the families and businesses that call this City home and have invested themselves in making this City the wonderful place that it is.”

The pavers cost $88 for a large paver and $55 for a small paver. The price covers the cost of purchasing, engraving and laying the pavers. The pavers will be laid when the path is completed in early 2020.
