Public Domain Upgrade in Neutral Bay on Military Road

At the May 2019 Council meeting Council voted unanimously to award the public domain upgrade works on Military Road in Neutral Bay and Cremorne to the highest ranked tenderer. The contractor for these works is CA&I Pty Ltd.

Public domain upgrades are occurring in Neutral Bay on Military Road between Young Street and Waters Street (north side of Military Road) and May Gibbs Plaza and Rangers Road (on the south side). The upgrade works are funded by Transport for NSW (TfNSW) and includes:

Paving upgrade More garden beds More seats and bins More trees More bicycle parking

Where are the works commencing?

Works are currently complete on the north side footpath between Young St and the traffic lights at Wycombe Rd and on the south side footpath between May Gibbs Plaza and Wycombe Rd. Works are currently nearing completion on the south side footpath of Military Road between Rangers and Wycombe Road and CA&I will be commencing works in the next zone being Military Road Neutral Bay, between Waters Rd & Wycombe Rd north side (Zone 1B) and the Neutral Bay Community Centre Walkway.  

 

When will the works take place?

Works in Zone 1B and the Neutral Bay Community Centre Walkway will commenced late October 2019 and will take 4 weeks.

These works will include a combination of daytime and nighttime works.

Daytime works will take place from 10am to 7pm.

Nighttime works will take place from 9pm to 5am with saw cutting and jack hammering ceasing at 12am 

What disruption is expected?

Council will be working closely with CA&I to minimise disruption to residents and businesses.

We will endeavor to provide access to shops and businesses at all times, however, there will be some unavoidable disruptions to access, parking and pedestrian traffic.

In addition, access to the Community Centre may be restricted outside of hours and limited through use normal hours by use of alternate local arcade entrances or from Young Street or Waters Road whilst the paving is being completed here, signage will be in place.

We will also endeavor to minimise the noise from our works, but some construction activities will generate unavoidable noise.

Council have been informed RMS are working on a drainage solution for the corner of Military Rd and Waters Rd and paving in this location will be put on hold until RMS complete the drainage works, Council has been informed this is anticipated for completion mid to late 2020. 

 

Why are the works taking place?

The works are part of Council’s ongoing efforts to make the shopping and commercial strip more appealing as a shopping destination for residents and visitors.

The works are funded by Transport for NSW and include new high-quality footpath paving, new trees, new garden beds, new seats and bicycle parking and new watering points for the garden beds.

All reasonable efforts will be made to complete the works on schedule, subject to weather and ground conditions. We will notify if there are significant changes to the program.
