Council endorses design of Trafalgar multi-use pavilion

Published on 18 November 2019

Trafalgar is one step closer to a new multi-use pavilion after Council endorsed its preferred concept design at its 13 November meeting.

The endorsement has progressed the project to ‘grant ready’ which will allow Council to apply for third-party grants to fund the pavilion’s delivery.

The multi-use pavilion will include female-friendly change rooms, an officials’ space, external access toilets, veranda, storage, office, timekeeping box, canteen and boxing gym.

The pavilion has been estimated at $3.2 million.

The pavilion has been designed in conjunction with a Project Reference Group comprised of stakeholders including:

Trafalgar Boxing Gym Trafalgar Cricket Club Trafalgar Football Netball Club (including Junior Football Club representatives) Trafalgar Victory Football Club Gippsland Football Club

Based on feedback from the PRG, the detailed concept design includes secured storage for each club, public toilet amenities located near the outdoor viewing area, an ensuite bathroom attached to the Boxing Gym, a flexible multi-use office space, and movable bench furniture in the football and soccer changerooms.

Clubs and the PRG will continue to be engaged in the process as Council advocates for funding and completes detailed construction drawings.

Quotes attributable to Mayor Cr Mikaela Power

“This pavilion is a really exciting project for Trafalgar Recreation Precinct. Council officers have worked closely with user groups to ensure the design of the pavilion suits their needs now and well into the future.

“On its completion, the Trafalgar Recreation Reserve Precinct will provide Baw Baw residents a top-class sporting facility and will ensure our residents have no barriers to participation.

“Now that the concept design has been endorsed, we will be advocating strongly for grants and external funding to bring the design to reality.”
