Bullamakinka Santa sale averages $7921...

Clearing the majority of the Bullamakinka Santa Gertrudis annual bull and female sale catalogue at Westmar last Friday was the most pleasing aspect for stud principal Craig Hindle.

"Considering the rapidly deteriatoring season and to achieve such a good clearance, it was a good result," he said.

The sale was conducted under the Helmsman system via the AuctionsPlus platform with the entire catalogue offered simultaneously with 19 classified S bulls selling to $14,000 and averaged $7921 for a 100 per cent clearance.

It was the first time the Hindle family have offered females and their 21 quality young classified heifers were well received after averaging $2690 and selling to a top of $4500.

A joint venture between Greg Kroll, Oakdale Santa Gertrudis stud, Chinchilla and Trent Ciesiolka, Valley View Santa Gertrudis stud, Oakey secured Bullamakinka P186 (PS) for the $14,000 top money.

Bullamakinka P186, a 23-month-old son of first season sire in Dunlop Quentin L134 weighed 898kg, scanned 5 percent for intra muscular fat and measured 39cms for scrotal circumference.

Mr Kroll said he loved his tropical content, excellent sheath and slick coat with the bull headed to 'Dalmane' for his first round of stud duties.

The top-priced bull will be shared equally between the buyers' Chinchilla and Oakey properties with Mr Hindle retaining a semen share for in-herd use.

Another long-bodied son of Dunlop Quentin, Bullamakinka P184 (PS), attracted the $9500 second highest price from Scott and Rebecca Dunlop of Dunlop Santa Gertrudis stud at Proston.

Mr Dunlop said he liked Bullamakinka P184's overall carcase qualities and natural thickness and he will be multiple joined to Dunlop cows.

Joint selling agent Richard Simpson, Simstock Rural Agencies, Longreach handled the biggest order on the day after buying four bulls for a $7375 average and paying up to $8000 for Bullamakinka P310 (P), a correct, thick son of Tyndale Hustler (P) for Phillip and Carol Anderson, Willsdown Pastoral Company, Windsor Park, Boulia.

Mr Simpson said he selected durable, hardy types with plenty of bone and length for the Anderson's mostly Santa Gertrudis/Charolais cross cows.

Peter Elmes, Plevna Downs, Augathella bought a pair of quality heavyweights and both sons of another first season sire and $55,000 purchase in Waco Flynn, the first, Bullamakinka P18 (PS) weighing 1030kgs at $8000 and Bullamakinka P6 (PS) which tipped the scales at 1020kgs for $8500.

Interstate buyer Clinton Wheatley, Brooklands, Bailup, Western Australia bid the $4500 top female money on the AuctionsPlus platform for Bullamakinka P135 (P), a home-bred heifer by senior sire Bullamakinka G230 (PS), a son of Warenda Sentry (P).

He also parted with $3250 for another Bullamakinka G230 daughter in Bullamakinka P85 (P).

Both classified S heifers were pregnancy tested in-calf to Bullamakinka P186 (PS) which was sold for $14,000.

A small but committed crowd was in attendance and made plenty of positive comments about the Bullamakinka offering especially on the first-time female draft which sold on a strong market.

Mr Hindle intends to bring his sale forward next year to September 2020 and will have a much bigger draft of bulls on offer.
