Whole lot of love for Broome sport in 2019

Broome Squash Club has been announced the winners of the inaugural #LoveBroomeSport amateur photo competition.

Sporting club volunteers were encouraged to use the social media hashtag to capture the action from the diverse range of sports occurring in the community each day during 2019.

The winners were announced at the Shire of Broome Sports Awards on 16 November, with the judges making their selections after reviewing a short list of 20 photos drawn from the hundreds of entries.

Broome Squash Club won a $500 Sportspower voucher for a creative image of junior players, Broome Jets Rugby League placed second and won a $300 voucher for their image of players post-game, and Broome Junior Cricket Association won a $200 voucher for their iconic image of the champion Broome Under 14 Country Week team.

Shire of Broome Club Development Officer, Mike Doyle, praised the fantastic response to the #LoveBroomeSport competition from Broome’s sporting clubs.

“There were so many great moments captured over the year, particularly at our junior sport, and by using the hashtag the community has now linked all of these memories together on social media,” Mr Doyle said.
