Tickets to Illuminate – Fairfield City’s family New Year’s Eve celebrations – will be made available to the general public on Wednesday, 20 November at 10am.

4,000 tickets have already been sold during the exclusive release for Fairfield City residents. This year marks the first time Illuminate will be held at the newly-redeveloped Fairfield Showground, meaning more families than ever before can attend this popular event on Tuesday, 31 December.

Illuminate attendees will be invited to make a gold coin donation to bushfire relief on the night, with Council to match the donations dollar for dollar.

All money raised will be donated to the Salvation Army’s Disaster Appeal – which is providing food, shelter and essentials to evacuees and first responders in fire-affected areas – and the RSPCA’s Bushfire Appeal, which is assisting wildlife, pets and livestock.

“There are plenty of people in NSW and Queensland doing it really tough right now,” Mayor Carbone said.

“Fairfield City is a generous community. We are always ready to lend a hand to people and communities in need.

“I encourage everyone coming to Illuminate to bring a gold coin to donate. Together we can make a real difference to families and wildlife impacted by these recent bushfires.”

This year’s Illuminate will have a superhero theme. Iron Man, Spider-Man, Thor and Captain America will thrill families with meet and greets throughout the afternoon. There will also be a high-octane jetpack display complete with LED lights and flames!

“In just a few years, Illuminate has captured the imagination of Fairfield City families and become one of our City’s must-attend events,” Mayor Carbone said.

“With free rides and entertainment, as well as food, carnival games and more, Fairfield Showground will be the place to be to celebrate the New Year.

“We are giving local families the opportunity to be involved in exciting and fun New Year’s celebrations without the difficulty and cost of travelling into the Sydney CBD.

“I encourage everyone from right across Western Sydney to grab their tickets early and secure their place for a memorable night out with the family.”

There will also be free amusement rides and carnival games, music, dance performances, food and drinks, virtual reality experiences, camel rides, face painting, airbrush tattoos, glitter bar and more. The Sydney fireworks will be broadcast onto the big screen at 9pm before the spectacular fireworks finale at 9.30pm, featuring more than 6,000 individual fireworks.

Bring a picnic rug, chairs and an esky and get ready to enjoy the show! Gates open at 5pm.

Tickets are available for a small booking fee of $3 at www.fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au/illuminate.
