North East Water hopes for a Water Wise summer

Published on 20 November 2019

Our climate is changing, and as we enter what’s forecast to be another drier and hotter year than average, right now is the time to start taking water conservation seriously.

Being water wise is similar to bushfire preparedness. You shouldn’t start thinking about a fire plan when a fire is at your doorstep and you shouldn’t wait until a drought before saving water.

Although water restrictions are not expected this summer in Benalla, North East Water says restrictions may be needed in 2020-21 if the dry conditions continue.

The more water people can save in the coming months, means the more water will be available for use next summer and the less impact any drought will have on our community.

Visit North East Water’s new website, www.waterwise.tips to find water-saving ideas, information about Benalla’s water supply or to refresh your awareness of Permanent Water Saving Rules which are compulsory across the region.
