Breaking bones are painful but recycling your old film-based X-rays doesn’t need to be with the introduction of dedicated recycling bins at all of our Customer Service Centres.

This new free X-ray recycling service will help keep old films out of landfill, which is a win for the environment because they contain chemicals, making them a hazardous waste.

Your old X-ray films will be processed at a refinery in Melbourne to extract and recover the valuable silver. The remaining residue is then used in road base.

The dedicated X-ray bins are now available at Customer Service Centres in Avalon Beach, Dee Why, Manly and Mona Vale. You can find the bins in the centres’ foyers but at Dee Why, please pass your X-ray films to Customer Service staff who will recycle these for you.
