Council’s contract for Kenilworth Avenue Published: 20 November 2019

Further improvements are ahead for Kenilworth Avenue following Council’s $1 million-plus investment in Stage 2 of the project.

The project will see road pavement, drainage, public lighting and a shared path installed along the length of Kenilworth Avenue.

Stage 1 works recommenced in September 2019, with the developer and contractor finalising business terms.

Complementing the Stage 1 works, road and drainage works in Stage 2 have been designed to continue the first section of sealed road, which is being constructed by developers.

The Stage 2 project being carried out by Council extends from the freeway overpass to Coach House Lane along Kenilworth Avenue, and will include public lighting and a shared path for the full length of the project.

Cardinia Shire Mayor, and Ranges Ward Councillor Jeff Springfield said Council awarded the Stage 2 contract at its meeting last night, and fully appreciates the community’s frustration with the delay in Stage 1 works.

“The sealing and associated drainage works of Kenilworth Avenue are part of the Officer Precinct Structure Plan, and will provide an alternative link from Officer to Beaconsfield,” Cr Springfield said.

“Council is pleased to progress plans for Stage 2 to finalise this much-needed local road project.”

Stage 2 construction of Kenilworth Avenue is set to commence in January 2020 with the road being reopened when works are complete,
