The City of Fremantle will be providing up to two hours free parking at all of its off-street car parks during the Christmas period to help increase trade for local businesses and attract visitors to the port city.
Running from 1 December until Boxing Day, the free parking offer will be available Monday to Thursday from 9am-4pm via the City of Fremantle’s PayStay mobile parking app.
Motorists parking with the PayStay app will get the first two hours of parking for free in all City of Fremantle off-street car parks.
People wanting to take advantage of the free parking offer will need to download the PayStay app and activate their parking sessions via the app.
The PayStay app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play, or by visiting the PayStay website.
In addition to the free parking offer through PayStay, Free Parking Santa will also return to the streets of Fremantle this year offering to pay for shoppers parking at variety of car park ticket machines across the City.
Shoppers are urged to keep an eye on City of Fremantle social media for Free Parking Santa locations.
The City is also rolling out a major marketing campaign in the lead up to Christmas which will provide shoppers with the opportunity to win $500 twice a week, every week for five weeks.
This will be coupled with significant advertising being rolled out to the rest of Perth to promote Fremantle as a Christmas shopping destination.
Acting Fremantle Mayor Andrew Sullivan said the lead-up to Christmas was a critical time of year for retail and hospitality businesses.
“The Christmas period is often a make or break opportunity for many small businesses and we want to do what we can to help them get the most out of this important time,” Acting Mayor Sullivan said.
“Fremantle offers a unique shopping experience with a huge range of retailers and products that you just won’t find anywhere else.
“Add to that the opportunity to soak up the summer sunshine while enjoying a coffee, lunch or a quiet drink and there really is no better place for Christmas shopping than Freo.
“And now with two hours of free parking there is even more reason to come down and take advantage of everything Fremantle has to offer this Christmas.”
There are approximately 5000 parking bays available in the Fremantle city centre, including over a thousand on-street bays and more than 2300 bays in the 27 off-street car parks managed by the City.
