The City of Swan’s Roadwise Advisory Group has teamed up with WA Police to launch the Blow Zero campaign, a new joint road safety initiative that will reward sober drivers.

From December 2019 through to May 2020, local drivers that return a 0.00% blood alcohol concentration reading will receive one free Swan Active pool entry voucher, subject to availability.

The voucher is valid at all Swan Active facilities located in Midland, Ballajura and Beechboro and entitles the bearer to one complimentary Family Swim pool entry (maximum two adults and two children).

City of Swan Mayor Kevin Bailey said the City is committed to working with WA Police to make our roads as safe as possible.

“We are grateful to local police for doing such an excellent job enforcing road rules,” he said.

“The Blow Zero campaign is a complementary initiative that is designed to positively reinforce good driver behaviour.”

Altone Ward Councillor and Roadwise Chairman Andrew Kiely said the Roadwise Advisory Group is an important collaboration between the City and community members.

“The Roadwise Advisory Group aims to reward sober drivers and explore other ways to make driving on our roads safer,” he said.

“I am very grateful to the dedicated community members who regularly attend and contribute to this vital safety initiative.”

Officer in Charge at Midland Police Station, Jason Van der Ende said that in addition to rewarding drivers that are doing the right thing, local police will continue to enforce road rules and prosecute drink drivers. “We are serious about keeping our roads safe, and this campaign is one way we aim to positively influence driver behaviour,” he said.
