Students inspired by nature capture prized pass

Creativity, conservation and nature have merged in a showcase of Isaac’s precious commodity through a range of stunning photos taken by young people across the region.

Isaac Regional Council’s Water Week Photography Competition offered young people from five to 18 years the chance to creatively capture their favourite water-inspired shot.

Mayor Anne Baker said the quality of the photos submitted were incredible given the age of some of the young photographers.

“Congratulations to Kade Ennis from Nebo State School and Typhoon Le Garde from Moranbah State School who won their five to eight years old and nine to 13 years old categories respectively,” Mayor Baker said.

“The level of creativity and artistic thought displayed in many of the shots submitted was truly inspiring.

“I would like to congratulate and thank all the young photographers who took the time to pick up their camera or mobile device to capture their unique picture of the ways we view, use and conserve water in our communities.”

The winning artists will get to make a splash at their local Isaac swimming pool this Summer with a coveted season pass presented to Typhoon and Kade for their popular entries.

Mayor Baker said the competition was a creative way to engage young people to have a look at our communities and how water affects all parts of our everyday life.

All submitted photos can be viewed on Council’s Facebook page, dated from 21 – 22 October.

Residents looking to improve their water conservation habits can visit Council’s website for tips and sign up to the free MiWater tool to access their home’s individual water consumption information.
