The City of Ballarat is updating the Yarrowee River Corridor Masterplan and is seeking community input into their vision for this environmental asset.
The project, jointly funded with Central Highlands Water and the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning will establish priorities for the next 20 years to further improve, develop, manage and maintain the Yarrowee River and its tributaries.
It’s been 25 years since the original Masterplan was prepared, and the City believes it is time to review what has worked, and what could be done to better meet the needs of all users and visitors to the Yarrowee River.
The ‘Breathing Life into the Yarrowee” initiative in 2013 led to improvements in habitat and bio-diversity, the creation of walking paths and a greater community appreciation of the waterways as public spaces.
This next chapter of engagement and planning aims to continue to build on the rejuvenation of the Yarrowee River for generations to come.
Ballarat residents are urged to visit Council’s mySay website and complete a short survey, indicating what parts of the river they visit and how often; what sort of activities they partake in, whether its dog walking, picnics or exploring nature, and what improvements would enhance their experience.
The online survey closes on Wednesday, 11 December.
