Bellingen Shire Library in partnership with the Bellingen Shire Community Drug Action Team (CDAT), will host a drug and alcohol information evening on Tuesday 3 December 2019 between 5:30pm and 7pm.
The information evening will feature the Drug and Alcohol Info Hub, an interactive information display developed by the State Library and Department of Health, that provides current and accessible information about drugs and alcohol and community support networks and agencies.
Bellingen Shire Council Mayor, Cr Dominic King, said the evening would include presentations from several local service providers and community members.
“Dean Besley from the Bellingen Youth Hub, Kim West from the Buttery, Joy Watson from Family Drug Support and Steve Cope from the Coffs Harbour Drug and Alcohol Service will all be there on the night to discuss issues relating to alcohol and other drugs,” Cr King said.
“The evening will provide our community with a valuable opportunity to have one-on-one chats with the panel of presenters who will answer any questions you might have and discuss opportunities regarding local community support networks and agencies.”
“For example, Kim West who runs The Buttery’s Youth Alcohol and Other Drugs Program and the Young Peoples Early Intervention Project, and Joy Watson from Grandparent and Kinship Carers have 37 years’ of collective experience between them in providing drug support services and helping people reconnect with the families.”
“Together with Steve Cope from the Coffs Harbour Drug and Alcohol Service and other CDAT members you’ll be able to learn more about how to stay informed and aware of the challenges we face as a community and how to better look after yourself, your friends or family members.”
