I would like to send my condolences to the family and friends of the motorcyclist who died in Jindabyne on Friday. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
The weekend’s rain was welcomed throughout the Snowy Monaro. It’s good to know it has learnt to rain again with falls in our area and in some of the parched areas of NSW.
The downfall certainly did not break the drought but gives a little hope to those communities and farmers desperately in need of further rain.
Last Wednesday was an exciting occasion for the Bombala community with the official openings of the Parsonage Creek Bridge and Bombala Amenities Building.
The bridge’s completion is the result of funding and cooperation from all three levels of government. Thanks to Federal Minister Nola Marino for making the trip to our region and to our local state member John Barilaro for attending.
The Bombala Amenities building is a long awaited project and a special thanks goes out to not only the Bombala-based Councillors, but the Bombala Reference Group, Bombala Chamber of Commerce, and community members who are too numerous to mention.
Questions have been asked about the total cost of the project. It cost $650,000, and this includes the land purchase and required fire protection for the surrounding buildings. Now we have the toilets, let’s use them.
On Wednesday, a community meeting was held in Berridale to discuss the tress in Memorial Park. Associated matters were also discussed, including: the beautification program, flood mitigation issues, and the ongoing growth of the town.
No work impacting the trees will occur without further comprehensive consultation, this remains the key understanding.
My thanks to all those who attended the meeting and for the points raised. This resulted in a constructive meeting.
Council has undertaken to have the flood mitigation information available in the Berridale office for public viewing. The beautification plans will also be available in the Berridale office.
