Cr Janet Pearce was elected Mayor of Macedon Ranges Shire Council at a Special Council Meeting in Gisborne last night. Cr Mandi Mees was elected Deputy Mayor.
It will be the second year in a row Crs Pearce and Mees will serve as the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of the shire.
Cr Pearce, from West Ward, and Cr Mees, from South Ward, were both first elected to Council in 2016.
Cr Pearce said it was an honour and privilege to be elected, and thanked Councillors for the opportunity to lead Council for another year.
“Thank you for your support over the last year and your trust and faith in electing me for another term - a very important final fourth year of our Council term,” Cr Pearce said.
“We will move forward as a strong and talented team together - Councillors, the CEO, Executive and staff, working with our active, passionate and caring community.”
Cr Pearce said there had been many highlights of the past year.
“I have enjoyed attending community events and hearing people’s stories, people of all ages and from all over the shire, including members of community groups and volunteers, and I look forward to continuing that work. We will be moving forward together on our strategic vision, priorities and advocating on important issues affecting our community.”
Minutes for the meeting and a recording of the livestream will be available within five working days.
