Christmas in the Mall returns to celebrate a Liverpool-style Christmas on Saturday 30 November, with carols in a variety of languages, Santa and the lighting of the Christmas tree.
Christmas in the Mall runs from 1pm-8pm and has a huge line-up of performers singing carols in their own languages, including Arabic, Vietnamese, Italian, Assyrian, Serbian, Spanish, Tagalog (Philippines) and English.
“Our annual Christmas in the Mall celebration features the diverse and multicultural nature of our city,” Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller said.
“Having carols sung in so many different languages will embrace our city’s diversity and welcome everyone to take part in the festivities.”
Macquarie Mall will be transformed into a Christmas wonderland with garden games, food trucks, face painting and many activities for the whole family. This also includes a pop-up roller-skating rink which will cost $5 for 30 minutes.
This year a Christmas lights display will be extended up Macquarie Street to the Memorial School of Arts.
“As usual we have our beautiful Christmas tree and I look forward to the return of the Australian Air League – Moorebank Squadron Marching Band to add their brand of panache to our tree lighting ceremony,” Mayor Waller said.
“The roller-skating rink will also provide fun for all ages, and I’m sure the rink will prove a great addition to this year’s Christmas in the Mall celebrations.
“It will continue on into December to add a little bit of fun to Christmas shopping trips.
“Christmas is a time of joy, happiness and kindness and I encourage everyone to join us for music and family fun to celebrate the festive season.”
Christmas in the Mall will be held at Macquarie Mall on Saturday 30 November from 1pm to 8pm.
