At the October Ordinary Council meeting, Council approved Grants for 7 community organisations, leaving $11,000 of budgeted funds to be awarded in the second Grants Round 2.
The 2019/2020 Community Small Grant Round 1 recipients are: • Lachlan Hall Committee - $792 for replacement of kitchen floor covering • Derwent Valley Choir - $400 for new music scores • Upper Derwent United Hall Inc. - $500 for whipper snipper • New Norfolk Neighbourhood Watch - $3,025 towards the development of an online info hub and conversation space for community members, clubs and service providers (conditions apply regarding additional funding requirements) • Derwent Valley State Emergency Service - $2,000 for rescue training dummy • Westerway Primary School for $1,000 for 100th Anniversary event activities • Derwent Valley Arts - $1,199 for an outdoor data projector, (conditions apply)
Unsuccessful applicants will be advised and will receive feedback on their applications.
This round brings the total to more than $233,000 that has been awarded to Community Organisations from Council since the Community Small Grants Program started in 1997/98. The Community Small Grants Round 2 will close in March 2020.
Council’s Community Development Officer believes there may be benefit in running some Grants Workshops before the next round opens. These workshops may be helpful to anyone who would like help with their application, are not sure about what to do, or to any organisations who missed out this time and want to apply again.
