The site was chosen because it is a good fit for the project, it accommodates low vehicle volumes, it is centrally located in this section of Sturt St, offers a safe environment, and is accessible to Parent Place for families, with access to public toilets and parent facilities.
The Gingerbread House is part of a Sturt Street Christmas trail stretching from Myer to the Bridge Mall.
Christmas activations like the Gingerbread House have been found to bring more foot traffic to traders.
The Gingerbread House installation is part of Council’s overall Christmas decoration budget.
Additional parking is being provided along Sturt St.
Free parking begins this Monday.
