Council’s festive season closures

Posted on November 28, 2019

The holiday season is upon us! We’re taking a break to relax and spend time with family and friends, so it’s time to make sure everyone knows the arrangements for council services.

All council offices, libraries and transaction centres will be closed from midday on Tuesday 24 December 2019, reopening at 8.30 am on Monday 6 January 2020. Please note, this includes the Capricornian branch located within the Springsure council office.

Shepton Quarry will be closed from 3.00 pm on Friday 20 December 2019, reopening at 6.30 am on Monday 6 January 2020. Please contact the Coordinator Quarry Operations – Shepton Quarry on 0417 285 434 for emergency-only quarry supplies.

There will be several people on-call for emergencies during the holidays – just call 1300 242 686 to reach our after-hours service.

Should we experience a major weather event, the place to go for road closure information is the Emergency Management Dashboard. The dashboard is the one point of truth for all emergency and disaster information, including road closures, fires and electricity outages.

Council’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages will not be actively monitored during the Christmas break.

Roadside rubbish collection services will continue as normal. All transfers stations and landfills will be closed on Christmas Day. No alternate waste disposal will be provided.

Our aquatic centres have vastly different opening days and hours over the festive season. We recommend contacting the centre to check when they will be open.

Have a happy and safe festive season!
