Community Participation Plan

City of Canterbury Bankstown has launched a new guide to help residents have their say on planning matters.

Mayor Khal Asfour said the Community Participation Plan (CPP) was approved by Council overnight.

"The CPP provides a clear outline for the community to better understand Council’s planning processes and how they can provide feedback on individual DAs and new planning controls for their area," he said.

"This is just another example of how we are determined to continue to not only being open and transparent in everything we do, but go out of our way to assist residents with what can be a confusing subject.

"Not everyone understands how the NSW Planning system works and the processes involved, so the aim of our new CPP is to explain them.

"By doing that, we hope even more residents will take the time to view and comment on proposed development applications and other planning matters, which will impact them and their families.

"In the end, the feedback from residents in vitally important in shaping our City for the future and being better informed when making planning decisions.

As part of the CPP, residents can stay up-to-date with current planning processes by:

Accessing the exhibitions of all strategic planning material online at cb.city/haveyoursay; Visiting Campsie and Bankstown Customer Service Centres, Bankstown and Campsie Library and Knowledge Centres, and Riverwood Library and Community Hub, to use the digital viewing kiosks for all development applications; Attending engagement workshops and Council meetings; and As of 2020, view Council meetings online.

The CPP was approved by Council after it was exhibited earlier this year when:

It was viewed 1,000 times online; 120 printed copies were provided to interested residents; and 18 submissions received.
