Christmas with the Stars

Two of the stars, including the winner, of this year’s The Voice, will headline this Sunday’s (1 December) Carols in the Park at Wiley Park.

Diana Rouvas who took out the popular Channel 9 show, is looking forward to sharing the Christmas spirit.

“It’s a time to celebrate with your family and loved ones, and coming together as a community like this really accentuates that,” she said.

“I love singing carols because everyone knows them and joins in. They really can have an impact on people.

“I’m always grateful to be performing and I look forward to connecting with people through my performance on the night.”

Ms Rouvas will be joined by The Voice finalist Lara D, who is a graduate of the Canterbury-Bankstown Talent Advancement Program (TAP).

Mayor Khal Asfour said there’s nothing quite like celebrating Christmas in CBCity, especially when its talented youth showcase their musical talents.

“Our event is about the community celebrating the festive season and there is no better way to do this than singing along to carols, sung by our local singers,” he said.

Santa will also make an appearance (around 8.45pm), while the fireworks finale is scheduled for just before 9pm.

The Christmas festivities will continue on Monday (2 December), when the Mayor officially switches on the lights on CBCity’s giant Christmas tree at 8.15pm, in the forecourt of Bankstown Library and Knowledge Centre. The night will start at 6pm with performances from:
