New $25,000 grant launched for artistic project

Creative individuals and organisations have the chance to secure $25,000 in funding through a new RADF grant.
Council has launched a new major grant category, developed through the Cairns Regional Arts Development Fund program, to provide funding for one large scale, high-calibre project.
Individuals, not-for-profit arts organisations and creative collaborators with a professional track record and with strong investment from other funding sources are encouraged to apply for the City of Arts Hero Project Grant.
Applications open April next year, for projects that can start from 1 July 2020.
Cairns Mayor Bob Manning urged individuals and organisations interested in applying for the grant to start work as soon as possible to maximise their chances of being successful.
“This is an exciting new opportunity in the area of arts funding for Cairns and the largest grant we have offered through the Cairns RADF program,” Cr Manning said.
“Although applications do not open for some time, there is a lot of work to do in the meantime and I would encourage potential applicants to start formulating their submissions.”
The major grant category will focus on a range of disciplines, with a preference towards collaborations that engage multi-art forms and the development of projects/products that:
produce high-quality and highly visible new works,have a regional, state or international outcome,create strong legacies for those engaged in the project and foster long-term and positive outcomes, andaddress RADF criteria for investment – quality, reach, impact and viability.Applicants are advised to speak to Council’s Arts and Cultural Grants Coordinator well in advance of funding deadlines to discuss their project.
Minister for the Arts Leeanne Enoch said the Palaszczuk Government is proud to continue its RADF partnership with local governments with an investment of $2.08 million, through Arts Queensland, for the 2019-20 fund.
“This investment will support the delivery of hundreds of arts experiences and professional development opportunities across the state,” Ms Enoch said.
“Projects funded through RADF provide pathways for learning, contribute to the creation of jobs, foster creativity and boost cultural tourism.”
