The Christmas season jingles all the way to Dalby

Dalby will come alive with the spirit of the festive season as Council kicks off festivities with a spectacular Christmas Tree light-up event.

A record 13-metre-high Christmas Tree will soon be installed at MyALL 107 ahead of the community celebration on Tuesday, 3 December.

Western Downs Mayor Paul McVeigh said the event would signify the start of the region’s Christmas celebrations, which would be bigger and brighter than ever before.

“The festive season is a wonderful time to come together and celebrate what it means to be a part of our great community,” Cr McVeigh said.

“The tree is the biggest our region has ever seen, and local businesses are supporting Council to ensure it’s installed safely and looking its best ahead of the big event.

“The light-up event will kick off at 5:30pm, with a range of activities on offer including face painting, community carols, horse and cart rides, a free sausage sizzle and of course a visit from Santa.”

Cr McVeigh said residents also had the opportunity to get into the spirit extra-early, with the annual community-run Dalby Street Christmas Party taking over Cunningham Street from 5pm on Thursday, 28 November.

“Our community groups are going above and beyond this Christmas season, with a range of events planned for most of our towns, and Council is proud to support these exciting initiatives,” he said.

“Another highlight for this year’s Christmas calendar is the Mayoral Christmas Carols being held at Chinchilla on Saturday, 14 December, which will coincide with the Chinchilla Lions Club Light Show taking over the Botanic Parkland.

“There’s plenty on offer right across the Western Downs this Christmas, and I encourage residents to head outdoors and get involved in the magic of the Christmas season.”
