The Town of Cambridge officially opened the City Beach North Walking Trail on Tuesday 19 November.
The 3.4 kilometre trail loop, at the Empire Village Shopping Centre in City Beach, boasts sweeping views of the ocean and Wembley Golf Course, and can be walked in sections with stops at restaurants, cafes and parks along the way.
The trail is a result of feedback received during a community consultation with accessibility being a key focus of its development.
When fully complete, the trail will include seven additional seats, water fountains, directional and interpretive signage. Cambridge Mayor Keri Shannon said it is important for the Town to continue to provide more opportunities, like this trail, for the community to be outdoors and exercise while enjoying the beautiful views and rich history of the area.
"The Town received requests from the community to develop more local walking trails, which led to the development of our Walking Strategy 2018-2021," she said.
"The purpose of the Strategy was to identify trails that would link natural areas and activity centres, and be accessible to people of all abilities.
"The Town's natural assets and cultural heritage offer great reasons for walking, plus it's a wonderful way for community members to keep physically active and socially connected.
" A large map and path markers at the southern side of the Empire Village Shopping Centre at City Beach, indicate the start of the trail, which then heads north along The Boulevard.
