Thursday 5th December will see Main Street Lithgow come alive with Christmas Cheer and a `Shop-Local’ themed event this year.
Pull on your Christmas t-shirt, affix the Reindeer horns and get into Christmas spirit while enjoying night-time shopping as this year’s Lithgow Christmas event moves from Queen Elizabeth Park to Lithgow’s Main Street as a combined Christmas and “Shop Local” event.
Santa and his friends; Frosty the Snowman, Rudolf, Christmas Angel, Stilt Walkers, Christmas Elves, Jugglers and Acrobats will be spreading the Christmas Cheer up and down Main Street, and local businesses will be remaining open for late-night shopping.
Christmas decorations will be installed and, as well as the street performers, there will be entertainment in Cook Street Plaza with the Lithgow City Band performing from 6.00pm, followed by the Lithgow Pipe Band performing their special Christmas music set from 7.10pm.
Lithgow City Council Mayor Clr Ray Thompson said “Lithgow always likes to get into the Christmas spirit and I look forward to the atmosphere of entertainment and late night shopping in Main Street combined with lighting up the Christmas Tree in Cook Street Plaza. I encourage all people to attend and enjoy the entertainment and shop local by getting their Christmas gifts from one of our great local retailers”.
Mayor Thompson concluded by saying “Everything starts at 5.30 and goes until 8.00pm, so come along and make an evening of it, get in the Christmas spirit and enjoy the festivities of “Lithgow Christmas in Main Street” – and make sure you are in Cook Street Plaza for the official lighting of the Christmas tree at 7.30pm.”
