‘Coffs Coast Carols’ is Nearly Here (30 November 2019)

Christmas is coming and what better way to celebrate than with family, friends and the whole community at Coffs Coast Carols in Brelsford Park from 6pm on Saturday, December 14.

This year’s lineup is brimming with talent and includes Swanee, (John Swan) who has recently made his home on the Coffs Coast, the delightful Kada Miller, opera songstress Bernadette Fisher (nee Squires) from Brisbane and Kailey Pallas who is rapidly making a name for herself all over town.

Organisers have also reached out to the schools and been lucky enough to add three local students from different schools in Kate Shieds, Imogen Damon and Ginger Freudenskim to the bill.

Three local choirs will be performing, including a combined schools choir featuring more than 80 children who will perform Jingle Bells and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.  Coffs Community Orchestra will also perform as the event starts doing orchestral versions of popular carols.

Local theatre identity Maureen Burgess has also organised the ‘We’re All Stars Choir’, an all-abilities choir.

And organisers are promising even more surprises!

I will be co-hosting this spectacular show with AB from Hit 105.5 and, of course, Santa will be paying a visit to do a final check of his ‘Naughty and Nice List’.

It’s not just performers on stage that will be happening on the night – the kids will be entertained with face painting, fun inflatables and glow sticks that will be available for purchase thanks to Coffs Girl Guides.

You can bring a picnic, or there will be plenty of delicious food and drink stalls to choose from!

So come on down, dress in your craziest Christmas outfit, and sing loud and proud from 6pm, Saturday, December 14, at this wonderful, all-inclusive, feel good community celebration.

Dirty Laundry Campaign

I was at the recent local launch of the anti-violence ‘Dirty Laundry’ Campaign and I just wanted to reiterate their main message – violence in the home, or anywhere, is simply not acceptable.

Love Food Hate Waste

I also helped launch a pioneering food waste reduction program for local families and businesses last week – ‘Love Food Mid North Coast’.

Did you know that NSW households and businesses throw almost a million tonnes of food waste to landfill annually, costing households more than $10 billion worth of edible food each year? For the average household in the Coffs Harbour local government area, that’s $73 a week, or $3805 each year!
