Winning artworks feature on new kerbside collection vehicle

Students from St Patrick’s Parish School and The Alpine School were congratulated for their efforts at a special ceremony held last week.

St Patrick’s Parish School was presented with a Buddy Bench, acknowledging the school’s efforts in last year’s Resource and Waste team’s artwork competition.

A Buddy Bench is a permanent place in the school with a special purpose. If a classmate sees a student sitting on the bench they are encouraged to invite them to play, walk or talk.

Snowy Monaro Regional Council Mayor Peter Beer commended the students on their creative flair.

“All the students did a fantastic job at drawing and painting artworks to spread the message of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle,” Mayor Beer said.

“Council received many creative and wonderful entries for this competition, with a select few featuring on the side of a Council kerbside recycling collection vehicle.”

The winning entries belong to; •Erin, Annaliese and Charlotte (St Patrick’s Parish School) for their Reduce, Reuse Recycle “Rejuvenate our Earth”; •Joe (St Patrick’s Parish School) for his bright blue “Recycle”; and •Ashley (St Patrick’s Parish School) and Joshua (The Alpine School) for their “Be Cool Recycle” message.

These artworks are now proudly displayed on the side of the kerbside recycling collection vehicle which undertakes collections in Bredbo, Cooma, Michelago and Nimmitabel.

Council also congratulates Angus Wood for his bright yellow “Reduce, Reuse Recycle” artwork. His artwork will feature in future waste and recycling promotions.

Council would like to thank the Cooma, Bredbo, Michelago and Nimmitabel students who participated in the competition.
