Cricket in Jindabyne has received a significant boost with the opening of new training and playing facilities at John Connors Oval.

Jindabyne Cricket Club will be able to play matches in town for the first time in 30-years, and will no longer have to travel to Berridale to train and play.

On Friday, members of the cricket club joined Deputy Premier John Barilaro, Snowy Monaro Regional Council Mayor Peter Beer and community members to officially open the new nets and pitch.

The cricket nets have been named in honour of Blake ‘Tiger’ McGrath, a former Jindabyne cricketer who passed away in 2001.

“It was lovely to have the McGrath family in attendance to open the cricket nets. Their son Blake passed away far too young,” Councillor Beer said.

“The new facilities are first class and will help strengthen cricket in Jindabyne.”
