2020 Volunteer of the Year announced

Verna Woods was announced as the 2020 Boroondara Volunteer of the Year at our International Volunteer Day celebration on Thursday 5 December. 

Verna was recognised for 30 years of voluntary service to the Balwyn High School community.

The dedicated volunteer was involved in establishing the Balwyn Chaplaincy Committee, which oversees the important pastoral care and counselling services provided by the school. Verna has also led groups of volunteers to collect and sell second-hand school books to 2,200 students and their parents, raising tens of thousands of dollars for the school.

As a result of her unwavering commitment and dedication, Verna has made a real difference to local students and families in Boroondara and is respected and loved by students, chaplains, staff and parents.
