We need your help to secure more nominations to recognise our home-grown heroes, so Bellingen Shire’s 2020 Australia Day Awards will re-open to receive nominations for the last two remaining award categories.
Bellingen Shire Council Mayor, Cr Dominic King, said that nominations for the Australia Day Awards would re-open until Friday 20 December 2019 and could be submitted online via Council’s Create website or posted and hand delivered to Council’s Bellingen Administrative Centre.
Cr King said the Australia Day Awards provided our community with a fantastic opportunity to recognise examples of outstanding achievement across the two remaining award categories of Creative Arts Award and Young Citizen of the Year.
“I think it’s important that we take the time to acknowledge the young members of our community who give their time freely throughout our Shire to help others and to recognise those who have demonstrated commitment in artistic endeavours.”
Cr King said Australia Day Award Winners would be announced at 6:30pm on Friday 24 January 2020 at the Memorial Hall in Hyde Street, Bellingen.
“The Awards Ceremony will be a community event that will have something for everybody including a Welcome to Country, live musical performances, finger food and light refreshments and a visit by an official Australia Day Council Ambassador.”
