Livingstone residents urged to limit outdoor watering during hot conditions

As temperatures continues to rise causing a spike in water usage, Livingstone Shire Council is urging residents to keep an eye on their overall water consumption.
Mayor Bill Ludwig said with the entire Shire drought-declared it is vital for all residents to exercise common sense and act to save water.
“There are simple things that we can all do that will make a significant difference in saving water,” Mayor Ludwig said.
“Things like avoiding watering between 9am and 4pm to avoid evaporation in the heat, and mulching the garden to retain moisture will help save precious water for the community and money for water users.
“Washing your car on the lawn with a bucket of water and trigger/twist hose nozzle is also an excellent way to preserve water while watering your lawn at the same time.
“I encourage everybody to visit Council’s water conservation webpage for other tips on how to save water and play a part in protecting our environment until the Queensland Government’s drought declaration is lifted.
“Council will continue to keep a close eye on monitoring water usage and will continue to provide appropriate advice to the community while the drought-declaration is in place,” Mayor Ludwig said.
