Residents in Bombala, Delegate and Nimmitabel are reminded that level three water restrictions will apply from midday Saturday 14 December. The restrictions will be introduced as a precautionary measure to ensure these towns have an adequate water supply in the long term. It should be noted the level three restrictions are very similar to the level one restrictions previously implemented by the former Bombala Shire Council.
We encourage all residents to adhere to the restrictions in the interests of preserving water and helping our communities in the future.
For the following towns in the Snowy Monaro, a conserve water notice is in place: Adaminaby, Berridale, Bredbo, Cooma, Dalgety, Eucumbene Cove, Jindabyne, East Jindabyne, and Kalkite. Please be careful with your water use. A few small changes around the house can make a big difference.
No doubt most of our residents would be aware of the bushfires burning in our neighbouring local government areas, and in other parts of the country.
Once again, we urge people to be careful and observe all total fire bans. Care should be taken when working outside in hot and windy conditions.
Our thanks go to our local firefighters who travelled throughout the state to help battle the blazes. We are all grateful for your efforts.
We congratulate the high school students within our region who have completed their Rural Fire Service cadetship. May this encourage you, and others, to join this wonderful organisation. Thank you to those who provided feedback on the proposed upgrades of Memorial Park and Myack Street in Berridale.
While the feedback period has closed, residents will have an additional opportunity to have their say at the community meeting on Monday 16 December at 6pm in the Berridale Hall.
I encourage Berridale residents to attend this meeting to discuss ways to preserve the historical significance of Memorial Park and drainage issues for Myack Street and Park Street.
Finally, an advanced reminder that all Council offices will be closed from Monday 23 December to Friday 27 December (inclusive). For urgent matters, please contact the 1300 345 345 after-hours number.
