Nominate now for Australia Day Awards
Blue Mountains 12 Dec 2019

Blue Mountains City Council has been calling for nominations for the 2020 Australia Day Awards but, to date, not many have answered the call.

Australia Day Awards recognise and reward those citizens who have a consistent record of excellence, who have made outstanding achievements in their field and have contributed in a significant way to the Blue Mountains community.

Mayor, Councillor Mark Greenhill said: “We know there are amazing people in our Blue Mountains community doing incredible things, but if you don’t nominate them we can’t acknowledge and celebrate them.”

In October it was announced that two new award categories have been added; Senior Citizen of The Year (65 year+) to celebrate our older citizens and Environmental Citizen of the Year (any age) for those protecting our environment. These are in addition to the Young Citizen of the Year (24 years and under), Citizen of the Year (25 – 64 years) and Community Achievement of the Year awards.

Nominating is easy and only takes minutes.

Mayor Councillor Mark Greenhill said: “Being nominated lets a person know they are valued and appreciated. The best nominations are those that come from the heart and tell the story of a friend, family member or colleague who makes a difference to others.

“Winning an Australia Day Award gives recognition to those whose work so often goes unsung, but makes our Blue Mountains community a better place for all.”

The closing date for nominations is Sunday 22 December, 2019. For more information and to nominate go to: yoursay.bmcc.nsw.gov.au/citizenawards.
