Across the Shire, the Ashburton community has once again come together to take part and celebrate this special time of year.
Festive decorations, vibrant lights, carol singing and Santa visits are amongst the many activities bringing seasonal cheer to our Pilbara towns this Christmas.
The highly anticipated Christmas Lights competition did not disappoint with fantastic displays across all towns creating that sense of Christmas fun.
Residents in Onslow enjoyed the annual float parade with some amazingly creative spectacles rolling through the main street, while Tom Price, Paraburdoo and Pannawonica enjoyed family friendly Carols by Glowlight.
Shire of Ashburton President Kerry White said the tremendous amount of effort residents go to is indicative of the great community spirit that exists in each of our towns and what makes a Pilbara Christmas extra special.
“Every year I love to see families spending time with one another and the community coming together to sing carols, decorate our homes and participate in the many festive activities and end of year events that are held throughout our Shire.
“It brings a sense of belonging and joy to the community, especially to those who are spending this time of year away from loved ones.
The Shire would like to extend a large thank you to our event partners; the Chevron-operated Wheatstone Project, Rio Tinto, Sodexo, Tom Price Youth Support Association, Combined Churches, Karingal Neighbourhood Centre, Workpac and the Local Drug Action Group for assisting us in bringing all of these events together.
