Lachlan Shire Councillors were treated to a visit from farmers’ advocate Selina Win Pe after their monthly December meeting.
Selina, who survived the shocking Lindt Café Siege in 2014, has found a selfless way to deal with her trauma – by bringing hope to Australian farmers devastated by the drought.
Determined not to be defined by her own traumatic experience, Selina is devoted to helping those who are overcoming adversity in country areas and is the founder/owner of Will of Courage.
Selina explained that Will of Courage is a Foundation – not a charity – which she has built on “Hope, Resilience, Courage and Community Well Being”.
The Foundation brings together one community of City and Country with all of Selina’s personally led and owned initiatives.
“I am singlehandedly doing it all alone, for our country communities and I have invested over $120,000 into my journey to help others,” she said. “On my own. For my country communities to be supported. As I bring the city to the country through my hands on personal travel and endeavours to bring the city closer to our country communities. All by myself.”
Selina said she was grateful to Mosman Council and community for collaborating on the Christmas appeal with her and donating hundreds of presents to her cause.
She has been travelling through rural areas raising money and spreading goodwill singlehandedly.
While visiting the Council Chambers to spread good cheer, Selina dropped off a big swag of Christmas gifts for local children.
