Council is calling for expressions of interest from residents, property owners and business operators in the shire who are interested in becoming an independent member of the Audit Committee.
The Audit Committee is an advisory committee which provides strategic input and advice on a range of controls relating to the delivery of Council’s programs and services.
It oversees and monitors Council’s effectiveness in carrying out its responsibilities for accountable financial management, good corporate governance, maintaining an effective system of internal control and risk management and fostering an ethical environment.
The Audit Committee comprises of three independent members and two Councillors and meets a minimum of four times a year. A report from each Audit Committee meeting is subsequently provided to Council.
There is one vacancy on the Audit Committee for up to a three-year term until 31 December 2022.
Chief Executive Officer, Margot Stork said expressions of interest would be assessed according to a criteria detailed in an information pack that is available for applicants.
“We are particularly looking for people with good analytical skills and experience in governance,” Ms Stork said.
