Congratulations to all the students within the Snowy Monaro region on another successful year. I’ve had the privilege of attending quite a few end of year presentations, and I’m impressed with the next generation of Australians coming through the school system.
The Hub in Cooma (Vale Street) will again host a Community Christmas Lunch on Christmas Day from 11am – 2pm. It’s free and open to everyone. Set in a festive environment, there is sure to be lots of laughter and good cheer.
The lunch is made possible through donations from businesses and the community, and volunteers who help cook, serve, and clean.
The Community Christmas Lunch offers a two-course meal and in 2018 more than 80 people attended and enjoyed each other’s company.
If you would like to attend, volunteer or make a donation, you can contact The Hub on 6452 5534.
Congratulations to the Alpine Uniting Church for running their Christmas Fair in Jindabyne over the weekend. It was very well attended with a range of stalls and activities for the whole family.
The final Ordinary Council Meeting for the year will be held in the Cooma council chambers this Thursday. The meeting commences at 5pm and will be webcast via the Council website.
As this is the last Mayoral Column before Christmas and for 2019, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a happy, safe and holy Christmas period.
If you’re travelling long distances or even locally, please take care. There have been too many fatalities on our roads in the last few months.
We want to see our residents arrive at their destination safely and enter the New Year fresh and ready for another very busy 12 months.
On behalf of Snowy Monaro Regional Council, it has been our privilege to serve you throughout 2019.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Councillor Peter Beer
