Sportsground closures in the Blue Mountains
Blue Mountains 18 Dec 2019

Due to the current circumstances with the bush fires, and severe heat and smoke predictions over the coming days, Council will be closing all sportsgrounds throughout the Blue Mountains from Thursday 19 to Sunday 22 December (inclusive).

This is unfortunate and we understand it will impact a large number of local sporting clubs. However, we have made this decision based on keeping our community safe, and to provide possible operational areas that the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) may require during this period.

We have contacted all local clubs to let them know about the closure and signs will be displayed.

Glenbrook Oval will be used by the RFS as a staging area during this time and there is strictly no public access to the Oval while that is happening. This includes the Skate Bowl.

While a number of open space areas remain open, we encourage you to check and monitor conditions if you’re visiting any areas close to bushland, and follow the directions of any emergency services or Council staff.

For up to date information on what Council areas are open and closed to the public – including reserves, lookouts and campgrounds – please visit Council’s bush fire updates webpage.

Between Thursday 19 December and Saturday 21 December the Fire Danger Rating may reach EXTREME. Get more information on Fire Danger Ratings and Total Fire Bans.
