WORKS AND EVENTS AROUND YOUR NEIGHBOURHOOD

The City of Busselton is undertaking the below works during January and some partial road and footpath closures may be in place during this period.  Please also note any road closures and/or footpath closures due to events.  Please slow down and show caution around any works and/or events taking place.  

 

 

Car Park Upgrades:

- Meelup Coastal Nodes (ongoing) - Dawson Estate - Forth Street

Road Reconstruction: 

- Wonnerup South - Ford Road

Footparth Construction:

- Fairway Drive - Thomson Way

Dunsborough Cemetery:

- Internal road improvements

Lou Weston Upgrade:

The Lou Weston sporting facility is undergoing a major upgrade. The pavilion will be demolished and a new facility provided. The existing 9 courts will be replaced with 12 new courts suitable for basketball and netball. This project is being funded by the City of Busselton, Department of Local Government Sport and Cultural Industries and the Busselton Netball Association.

BCP Contractors Pty Ltd have been awarded the contract for the construction of the new courts and Innovest Construction have been awarded the contract for the construction of the new pavilion.

Works have commenced and access to building area at the western end of Lou Weston Oval will be restricted during construction. Please contact the City’s Major Projects Team 97810498 email [email protected] in you have questions or concerns.

 

CRUISE SHIP VISITS - 10 TO 11 JANUARY 2020 - ASSOCIATED ROAD CLOSURES

Friday 10 January 2020  - Sun Princess – Vessel capacity 1990 passengers and 900 crew – 4 night cruise starting and finishing in Fremantle – first tender 8.00am, last tender 6.00pm

Saturday 11 January 2020 – Vasco da Gama – Vessel capacity 1220 passengers and 557 crew – 14 night cruise starting in Adelaide and finishing in Fremantle – first tender 12.00pm, last tender 8.00pm

To facilitate the movement of this many people in and around the foreshore and CBD area, the following temporary road and car park closures will be in effect:

Queen Street in the Cultural Precinct (between Adelaide Street and Marine Terrace) will be closed for the Cruise In markets on both days. Due to the capacity of the vessels, Queen Street/Foreshore Parade from Marine Terrace to Jetty Way MAY be blocked on the north/east bound lane, to allow for the staging of tour buses (to be confirmed). As it is school holidays and very busy in the area generally, the City will do its best to avoid road closures if possible. There will be some parking bays blocked on Foreshore Parade near Railway House for the further staging of tour buses.

 

FESTIVAL OF BUSSELTON 1 TO 31 JANUARY 2020 - ASSOCIATED ROAD CLOSURES

Float Parade - Road Closures - 3.00pm to 6.00pm Saturday, 11 January 2020

Festival of Busselton’s Float Parade will be held on Saturday, 11 January 2020. Road closures will be in place from 3.00pm to 6.00pm as per previous years:

Queen Street (between Marine Terrace and Albert Street); and Prince Street (between Queen Street and Stanley Place); and Albert Street (between Queen Street and Stanley Place).

Road closure signs and associated detours will be in place. 

Petticoat Lane - Road Closures - 4.00pm to 9.30pm Wednesday 15 January 2020 

Festival of Busselton’s Petticoat Lane will be held on Wednesday 15 January 2020. Road closures will be in place from 4.00pm to 9.30pm:

Queen Street (between Albert and Duchess Street); and Prince Street* (between Queen Street and the Post Office).

Please Note: Prince Street road closure (between Queen Street and Post Office) will be closed through to 10.30pm.

Closing Night Concert and Fireworks - Busselton Jetty Closure and Road Closure - Saturday 18 January 2020 

The Busselton Jetty will be closed from 5.30pm to 10.00pm on Saturday 18 January 2020 due to the Festival of Busselton Closing Night Concert and Fireworks.

Foreshore Parade between Marine Terrace and Jetty Way will also be closed from 5.00pm – 10.00pm to facilitate the safe passage of the public around the event site.

 

Road closure signs and associated detours will be in place. 

The City apologises for any inconvenience caused by the above works and will endeavour to minimise delays where at all possible.
