Wollondilly Community Needs Your Support

Wollondilly Mayor Matthew Deeth would like to extend his heartfelt thoughts to the Wollondilly community after yesterdays beyond devastating fire event.

For those who would like to help, Council has set up the Mayoral Relief Fund for the 2019/20 Fire Season to assist Wollondilly residents who have been impacted by the ongoing fire event and to support local recovery.

Mayor Deeth has thanked local businesses and associations showing their support for the Wollondilly community through donations to the Mayoral Relief Fund. The fund has received many generous donations including $20,000 from Bradcorp, $4,000 from Elie Chaghoury at BP Picton, $2,000 from the Picton Chamber of Commerce and $370 from the Wollondilly Tourist Association.

Mayor Matthew Deeth said, “We acknowledge that this will be a long fire season and we want to support those who need our help during these stressful times. Council is very grateful for the support so far and offers our thanks to these generous local businesses and associations”.

“There has been a significant amount of housing loss and damage and we want to recognise the incredible efforts of our RFS, NSW Fire and Rescue, NSW Police and other emergency services and volunteers who have been working tirelessly to defend our community”.

You can donate to the Mayoral Relief Fund in person at the Council Administration Building, at your local NAB Branch or online. Donations over $2 are tax deductible and 100% of all funds go directly to affected residents and community members.

Council has also established an Emergency Recovery Information Centre located in the Council Administration Building at 62-64 Menangle Street, Picton open from 8.30am-5pm Monday to Friday and 9am-3pm Saturday and Sunday. This centre provides information and immediate assistance for residents affected by the fire event.
