In response to the devastating fires that have impacted the Wollondilly Shire, the operators of Tahmoor Colliery, SIMEC Group have today announced a donation of $250,000 to the Mayor’s Relief Fund Fire Appeal 2019/20. The purpose of this fund is to assist people who have been impacted by the Green Wattle Creek fire event and to support local recovery.
Wollondilly Mayor Matthew Deeth expressed his heartfelt thanks on behalf of the Wollondilly community, saying “We acknowledge that this is a very generous contribution which will provide much needed support for those who need our help during these stressful times. SIMEC is one of our most significant local businesses so I am very pleased to see them make such an important gesture in support of local recovery”.
The money being collected through the Mayor’s Relief Fund has already been put to immediate use with emergency support payments being provided for a significant number of families impacted by the fires.
