Ballina Shire Council is excited to announce Liz Ellis will be Ballina Shire’s 2020 Australia Day special guest.
Liz Ellis is one of Australia’s elite athletes and most successful netballer ever. Liz was captain of the Australian Diamonds Netball Team and the Sydney Swifts, and surpassed the record for most test matches played for Australia.
Liz is also a sports and current affairs commentator, author and mother. She resides in the Ballina Shire and we are very pleased to have Liz as our special guest for the 2020 Australia Day Celebrations in the newly opened Ballina Indoor Sports Centre (BISC) on Sunday 26 January 2020.
The Australia Day ceremony will commence at 9am on Sunday 26 January. Liz will be providing a special address as part of the ceremony as well as assisting with the Australia Day Awards and the citizenship ceremony.
The full program includes a Welcome to Country, Citizenship Ceremony, music performances by Katie Rutledge and Ballina Coast High School students Abigail Jones and Kai Martyn and the highly anticipated Ballina Shire Australia Day Awards.
