Mary Poppins will make a return visit to the 2020 Federation University Road National Championships at Buninyong!
‘Mary Poppins Returns’ is the feature film for the popular Community Movie Night planned for the big screen at De Soza Park on Saturday 11 January.
Cycling Australia, GTR Events, the City of Ballarat and the Buninyong community have worked together to plan the family fun night, which this year will include live entertainment, food trucks, a jumping castle, face painting and a host of activities to keep the whole family entertained.
The day will begin with a chance to race down the finishing straight of the Federation University Road National Championships’ road race course - and you don’t even need a bike! Just bring your runners and a racing attitude and you could go home with some great prizes after completing the one-kilometre dash. Prizes will be available for category winners including best dressed! So, get ready to race Buninyong.
To add to the atmosphere, Cycling Australia has rescheduled the Gran Fondo event to finish prior to the start of the movie night.
Ballarat Mayor, Cr Ben Taylor said the extended program was designed to engage the community during the Cycling Road Nationals and to acknowledge the continued support for the event from the Buninyong community.
“This is a great way to leverage this significant national cycling event, while engaging those communities who work alongside us to ensure its success,” the Mayor said.
The community movie night was a welcome addition to the program last year, and organisers are expecting an even bigger turnout on Saturday.
The entertainment will start at 6pm with the movie scheduled for 7.45pm.
The 2020 Federation University Road National Championships will be held in the Ballarat Municipality from January 8-12.
