Community input is being sought to help shape a new set of standards for open space maintenance in Baw Baw.
Council routinely maintains open spaces such as public parks and gardens, landscaped areas, streetscapes, sports fields and bushland reserves.
Open space maintenance activities include grass mowing, path edging, garden beds, mulching, weed control and tree maintenance.
All open space maintenance activities are guided by a set of standards, the latest version was adopted in 2015.
Council is now looking to update these standards to improve service levels in line with current needs and expectations.
Have your sayA short survey has been prepared to help gauge community satisfaction with current standards and provide guidance on what can be improved.
Additionally, Council’s Open Space team members will do some random drop-in engagement with local park users over the consultation period.
All feedback will assist in developing new standards to guide open space maintenance activities into the future.
The consultation period is now open for four weeks, closing on Friday 31 January 2020.

Following the consultation period, all feedback will be consolidated and used to make further recommendations for Council to consider for the next set of open space maintenance standards.
Quotes attributable to Mayor Cr Danny Goss“Baw Baw has 108 parks, 103 playgrounds, 11 sports fields, and we regularly mow the equivalent of 285 MCGs. With community input, we want to develop a new set of standards to guide routine maintenance that is in line with community needs and expectations, while balancing resourcing and value for money. We encourage everyone to take a few minutes to provide their feedback.”
