The bitumen spray seal used with its dual rock approach has a 15-20 percent recycled rubber content that provides significant flexibility to accommodate the significant large trees within the Lake precinct. This flexibility is not delivered in an as-appropriate manner by asphalt which is a less flexible wearing surface.
