Lachlan Home and Community Care will be hosting their first ever Cook Off at Tottenham on Monday, February 3.
The event, a first of its kind, will kick off at 11am at the Tottenham Hall.
The Cook Off is open to all HACC clients and youth club members have also been given a special invite to take part – making it a multi-generational baking challenge.
Lachlan Shire Mayor John Medcalf OAM will be attending the event and said he is looking forward to meeting all the HACC clients and youths who will be attending the day.
The Cook Off was devised by HACC staff as a way to bring some of their isolated aged clients together for a nice day out with a free morning tea but has grown in scope with the inclusion of the local youth group.
It will be a great opportunity for the youths to interact with the elderly and perhaps start some beneficial relationships in the community.
Judging of the competition will be based on the My Kitchen Rules TV Show, with the numbered plates being judged first, second and third on scorecards by the participants themselves.
HACC are hoping for a good turnout of up to 30 people bringing plates of baked delights along on the day.
The organisation is also encouraging people to bring along written copies of their recipes which will be typed up and collated into a mini cookbook which they will print out.
If the event is a success then HACC will consider opening the event to the public next year.
